Fracking clash at Stormont

Researchers are set to clash over the controversial technique of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, in the Northern Ireland Assembly on 17 September.

The technique is used to release natural gas and petroleum from rock formations below ground level. While some people argue fracking is safe and a cleaner alternative to coal, others argue that it endangers local water supplies and contributes to climate change.
