A professor of plant biochemistry is among the witnesses due to give evidence to a House of Lords inquiry into waste and the bioeconomy next week.
Greg Tucker is based at the University of Nottingham and will be joined in the evidence session by Graham Hillier, director of strategy and futures at the Centre for Process Innovation, a consultancy that is part of the High-Value Manufacturing Catapult; Will Barton, head of manufacturing at the Technology Strategy Board; and analysts from the Institute for European Environmental Policy, a think tank. The session will be conducted by members of the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee.
Witnesses will be asked about the economic and environmental costs of waste disposal and of using waste as a feedstock.
