Government acknowledges complexity of cybersecurity, but won’t reveal detailed plan

Threats to cybersecurity “cannot be dealt with by one department or agency alone”, the government has said in response to a House of Commons Defence Committee report on the nature and extent of military cyber threats.

In a statement on 22 March, the government agreed it must “keep pace” with developments in order to tackle the cyber threat. However, it refused to give any specific detail of contingency plans for sustained cyber attacks, although they were called for in the Defence Committee’s report published on 9 January.
