Wellcome and GSK pursue transparency for clinical trial data

The Wellcome Trust says it is looking into whether the international clinical trials register used by its grant holders is still fit for purpose.

Speaking at a House of Commons Science and Technology Committee evidence hearing on clinical trials, Nicola Perrin, head of policy at the Wellcome Trust, described the ISRCTN register as not being user-friendly.

“If you know what you’re looking for, you can probably just about find it. If you were a patient looking for a trial, you wouldn’t go to that site to find it,” she told the committee.
