MPs must take responsibility for science, says Miller

Newly elected MPs must not leave government departments to deal with matters involving science, technology, engineering and maths, Andrew Miller, the former chairman of the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee, has said.

In a blog post for the Campaign for Science and Engineering published on 27 May, Miller said that newly elected MPs must not allow their busy schedules to prevent them from contributing to the nation’s STEM goals.

“You may take the view, ‘All of this will happen without me having to worry, government departments will sort all this out.’ Sorry, as an MP that is not a good enough answer,” he said.
