The Conservative MP David Tredinnick, a proponent of homeopathy and the use of astrology in medicine, has reached the required number of nominations to stand in the ballot to become chairman of the House of Commons Health Committee.
Tredinnick will stand against his Tory colleague Sarah Wollaston in the ballot, along with any other Conservative MPs who can win at least 15 nominations from colleagues in their own party.
Nominations opened on 4 June and will close on 10 June. Chairmanships are allocated to each party according to their strength in parliament.
