Speaking at a House of Lords Science and Technology Committee evidence session on 9 February, Juergen Maier said that the engineering company had been increasing its research spend in the UK in recent years—from 50 collaborative R&D projects between factories, universities and research facilities in 2008 to 160 in 2015.

Maier said that if the UK left the EU it would be “very difficult” to persuade colleagues that the UK was the place to start R&D programmes.
