Restrictions on migration will threaten the UK’s ability to grow through investing in science, a member of the House of Lords has argued.
If the government negotiates a hard Brexit, the UK construction industry will fail to grow, Andrew Stunell, a former LibDem MP, told a House of Lords debate on European Union migration on 17 July.
If the UK plans on an “export-led economic boom” as the government has suggested, it will need more roads, factories and laboratories, he said: “Where is all of that going to come from?”
