Clarity needed on industrial strategy, says Reeves

The House of Commons Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee has urged the government to clearly explain how the proposed industrial strategy will achieve its goals, branding the government response to the committee’s analysis of the initiative as “lacklustre” and lacking in detail.

The government published its official response to the BEIS committee’s report on the industrial strategy, which address areas such as geographical rebalancing, manufacturing, foreign takeovers, and investment in R&D, on 15 September.

However, Rachel Reeves, who chairs the committee, criticised the report for failing to set out actions to be taken in response to many of the committee’s recommendations.
