The UK government should publish information on why the cap on skilled visas has been hit four times in a row, the chairman of its Migration Advisory Committee Alan Manning has said.

The MAC hasn’t seen data on where the increase in applications for skilled workers under the Tier 2 visa scheme has come from, Manning told the House of Commons Home Affairs Committee on 18 April.

“I don’t really know quite exactly why the cap has been reached, where the increase in applications has come from, because current data isn’t available,” Manning said.
