Government resumes work in face of Brexit chaos

  

Westminster politicians are trying to get down to business after a tumultuous start to the week saw the prime minister survive a vote of no confidence in her government following a painful defeat over her Brexit deal.

After two dramatic votes held on two consecutive days, members of the government and parliament are pushing to reach the Brexit deal that researchers so desperately need to prevent the serious damage to research that has been predicted if the UK crashes out of the European Union on 29 March.

The science and innovation minister Chris Skidmore, who earlier this week called on his colleagues across the House of Commons to build a consensus on Brexit, visited Brunel University on 17 January as part of his tour of English institutions. There he urged universities to do more to help disabled students.
