Government rejects MPs’ calls for geoengineering research

Science and Technology Committee’s request for UKRI to study geoengineering have been rejected by government

An appeal by members of parliament for the government to expand its understanding of geoengineering in the interests of climate change research has been rejected, as was the call to appoint more ministers to deal with climate change.

A Science and Technology Committee report, Clean Growth: Technologies for meeting the UK’s emissions reduction targets was published on 22 August following a committee inquiry on the same subject.
