Chief scientific adviser says the work of the group has put a ‘strain’ on members
The government’s chief scientific adviser has described the long-term resilience of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies as a “big issue” that needs to be formalised.
Speaking during a session of the parliamentary Joint Committee on the National Security Strategy on 19 October, Patrick Vallance said Sage was not designed to work for such a long period of time, describing this as a “challenge” in the Covid-19 emergency.
