Jurisdiction of EU Court over R&D programme ‘not a breach of government’s red line’

With the tempestuous negotiations between the UK and European Union on the terms of their future relationship verging on collapse, at least one hurdle to UK association to the EU’s Horizon Europe R&D programme seems to be out of the way.

In a letter to the UK parliament’s European Scrutiny Committee, the chief secretary to the Treasury has said that the jurisdiction of the EU Court of Justice over the programme would not represent a breach of the government’s red line regarding the jurisdiction of the court over the UK.
