MPs to scrutinise UK government NHS data-sharing plans

Science committee inquiry will address proposals for aiding research through comprehensive sharing of health data

MPs will be scrutinising plans to make it easier to share patient health data across the NHS, which the government says will increase capacity for research in the health service.

In June, the government released a draft strategy on health and social care data that proposes “a new duty to share anonymous data safely and appropriately across the entire health system”.
