Business secretary confirms government will build on schemes such as the Strength in Places Fund

Research and innovation will be a “core element” of the government’s upcoming levelling-up white paper, which will build on existing place-based schemes such as the Strength in Places Fund, the business secretary has said.

Kwasi Kwarteng (pictured, right) was responding to a letter from Greg Clark, chair of the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee, who had made the case for more R&D funding to support the government’s levelling-up agenda.
