Minister claims financial support is there, opposition says government does not understand scale of issues

The government has insisted it is trying to help students who face financial hardship “in every possible way”, as the cost of living crisis takes its toll on learners.

Last week, figures from the Office for National Statistics suggested that ​​almost a third of students say they are skipping some lectures and tutorials in order to save money, and more than three-quarters are concerned that the cost of living crisis will impact how well they perform in their studies.
