Science and technology committee appoints interim chairs

Carol Monaghan and Aaron Bell to chair committee as Greg Clark becomes levelling up minister

Carol Monaghan and Aaron Bell have been appointed interim chairs of the House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee, after former chair Greg Clark was made levelling up secretary.

Clark, who had served as committee chair since January 2020, was appointed secretary of state for levelling up, housing and communities on 7 July following Michael Gove’s resignation. Gove was one of more than 50 government figures to step down, ultimately leading to prime minister Boris Johnson’s resignation last week.
