Universities Scotland warns of knock-on effects after funding cuts for teaching

The Scottish budget represents a “tough” deal for the country’s universities, the chair of Universities Scotland has said.

An analysis by the group, which represents Scotland’s vice-chancellors, said the 19 December budget, which covers the 2024-25 financial year, would mean cash cuts of 5.9 per cent to university resource budgets, which primarily cover the cost of teaching students from Scotland.
