Spring budget: Chancellor wants to back AI and life sciences

Jeremy Hunt said he will continue to back the sectors, to attract investment to UK

Ahead of his spring budget on 6 March, the chancellor has told industry leaders he will continue to back artificial intelligence and life sciences sectors, supporting ambitions to make the UK one of the best places in the world for companies to invest in.

Over £1.5 billion is being invested in artificial intelligence and science in the country, Jeremy Hunt told a tech and life sciences breakfast meeting held yesterday in Number 11. Last year, the government committed this money to build public sector supercomputers, including the AI Research Resource and an exascale computer.
