Wales’ chief scientist to stand down

John Harries, the chief scientific adviser for Wales, is to retire at the end of April.

Harries became the first person to hold the position when he was appointed in May 2010. He is a professor of Earth observation and a member of the Grantham Institute for Climate Research at Imperial College, London.

A Welsh government statement said that the search for a new chief scientist is underway.
