Welsh tidal energy project gets £4.5m boost

A scheme to accelerate the development and commercialisation of marine and tidal energy technologies in Anglesey has received £4.5 million from the European Union and the Welsh government.

Ken Skates, economy and infrastructure secretary, announced the government’s investment in a £5.6m project managed by not-for-profit enterprise Mentor Môn, on 25 September.

The project aims to develop multiple tidal-stream technologies in the Morlais demonstration zone, an area in Anglesey that has been identified as a suitable location for generating energy from the sea.
