The Welsh government is pressing Westminster to ensure that “maximum possible participation” is achieved in the European Union’s Horizon research programmes.
In an action plan published on 16 September, the devolved administration says it is working in partnership with higher education to examine and address the potential impacts of Brexit, particularly in a no-deal scenario.
It proposes lobbying the UK government to ensure that the UK retains full access to the Horizon 2020 programme and its successor Horizon Europe. Full participation in these programmes is “crucial for higher education and businesses in Wales”, the plan says.
