Home Office sets out drug advice ground rules

The government has published a working protocol to oversee the relationship between the home secretary and the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs.

The ACMD has been at the centre of rows over government use of scientific advice since its former head, David Nutt, professor of neuropsychopharmacology at Imperial College London, was fired over disagreements on government policy in 2009.
