Science budget cut threatens prosperity, says Umunna

The government’s decision to cut the science budget in real terms is damaging the UK’s long-term economic future, Labour’s shadow business secretary, Chuka Umunna, has warned.

In his first major speech in his new role, Umunna quoted new figures by the House of Commons Library showing that the total science and research budget was being cut by 15 per cent over the spending review period.
