Green light for trial badger culls in England

Environment secretary Caroline Spelman has announced that badger culling will be trialled in two areas of England next year as part of a “science-led” policy to tackle bovine TB.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs estimates that culling would reduce the disease in cattle over a 150 square kilometre area by an average of 16 per cent over nine years compared to areas with no culling.
