Defra to fund conservation initiatives

Environment minister Richard Benyon has announced £1.3 million in government funding for international conservation projects to protect some of the world’s most endangered and best-loved species.

Grants are being made to a range of projects throughout South America, Africa and Asia. These include initiatives to stamp out the illegal trade in elephant ivory and rhino horn and to preserve suitable habitats for the tiger.
