Climate scientists face growing public distrust

Trust in climate scientists and in their research has dropped, according to a report by the research councils’ Living With Environmental Change programme.

The report, based on a survey of 1,007 people in the UK, found that one-third of respondents do not trust climate scientists to tell the truth about climate change. The proportion of the public who believe that the seriousness of climate change has been exaggerated has increased in recent years to almost half.
