The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority faces considerable challenges to clean up the Sellafield nuclear power plant, as “successive operators…did not give sufficient thought to decommissioning or retrieving and disposing of radioactive waste”, according to a National Audit Office report.
The report, published 7 November, says the NDA inherited a legacy of poor planning and neglect when it took over the site in 2005.
