‘Big science’ and innovation on BIS research agenda

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills is to examine the links between large-scale science facilities and innovation performance, as part of its economic and social sciences research projects in 2012-13.

A report outlining BIS’s economic and social sciences research projects was published on 2 November. The department says the projects are “firmly rooted” in objectives such as creating an educated workforce; making the UK the best place to start and do business; and encouraging investment and exports.
