Clinical Trials Gateway needs ‘clear vision’

The UK Clinical Trials Gateway needs a clear vision of its role and function, according to a report from Simon Denegri, national director for public participation and engagement in research at the National Institute for Health Research.

The report is based on an NIHR survey, which asked 645 people for their opinions of the UKCTG website. Four-fifths had not previously heard of the system.

The research showed that 66 per cent of respondents found the system ‘easy’ or ‘very easy’ to navigate, and 67 per cent found the information ‘very clear’ or ‘fairly clear’. However, respondents also recommended making changes and improvements to the website. The report recommends more consultation with the UKCTG’s target groups, and says “the UKCTG needs a clear vision of its role and function and how best this can be implemented in the future”.
