The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee is to hold a short inquiry into the government’s open access policy and its implementation by Research Councils UK.
The first witness will be Janet Finch, who chaired the working group behind last year’s influential report into open access. The main thrust of the Finch report, published on 19 June, was to move towards a business model where the author, not the reader, meets the fees associated with publishing research. Finch will appear before the committee on 15 January.
