The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills is to publish a set of internationally influenced ideas on how the UK can support science in the long term.
The department aims to publish a document in January that outlines how other countries fund and manage long-term scientific infrastructure, and the UK issues that need attention. This will form part of a wide-ranging vision of the UK’s science and innovation infrastructure, which BIS will be working on in the next 12 months.
Academics and other non-governmental representatives have already been feeding into the project, which is being run by the department’s knowledge and innovation group.
