A joint UK-China centre for genomic medicine is being created by the University of Manchester and Peking University, Chancellor George Osborne has announced.
“The cooperation between Chinese scientists and British scientists is one of the strongest in the world—and I’d like it stronger still,” Osborne told students at the University of Peking in a speech on 14 October. “This great university should be at the heart of that.”
Osborne is on a five-day visit to China that includes stops in Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Science minister David Willetts is part of the UK delegation.
