The Government Office for Science, which is headed by the UK government’s chief scientific adviser, has estimated that its spending increased by 8 per cent between 2011-12 and 2012-13.
The figures, published in the office’s annual review, reveal that its spending for 2012-13 was £6.8m, compared with £6.2m the year before. This follows a cut in spending of around 25 per cent between 2009-10 and 2011-12.
