BIS announces local Digital Catapult centres

The Connected Digital Economy Catapult has announced that three local centres will be created in Sunderland, Brighton and Bradford with the aim of driving local innovation and creating linked investment.

The digital catapult centres will be led by the Local Enterprise Partnerships—university-business partnerships—in the three locations. The centre in Brighton will be led by the Coast to Capital LEP and will focus on real-time and location based data. The catapult centre North East and Tees Valley will be led by the North East LEP and Tees Valley LEP, and will focus on the controlled delivery and security of data. Finally, the Yorksire catapult centre will be led by the Leeds City Region LEP and York, North Yorkshire and East Riding LEP, and will focus on digital health innovation.

The three consortia were chosen as a result of a competitive bid process, where 17 LEP and local bids were received, according to BIS.
