Johnson frère given science minister job

Jo Johnson, younger brother of Boris, the Mayor of London, has been appointed minister for universities and science, replacing Greg Clark who has been put in charge of communities and local government.

Prime minister David Cameron announced Johnson’s promotion late on 11 May, along with other ministerial appointments.

Johnson was elected MP for Orpington in 2010 and was returned to Parliament in this year’s general election with a 20,000-vote majority. A former journalist, most notably for the Financial Times, Johnson does not have a science education background, instead reading modern history at Balliol College, Oxford.
