MoD looks to virtual reality to help deal with data

The Ministry of Defence’s Centre for Defence Enterprise, part of its Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, is launching a competition for academia and industry to help it make use of data within cyberspace.

Processing the information held on computers and computer networks for use by the MoD requires a lot of human hours, and traditional human-computer interfaces are no longer the best method, the DSTL said on 26 June.

On 9 July the CDE will therefore launch a competition for academia and industry to develop ways of visualising and manipulating data, perhaps using virtual reality technology, to support and improve military decision-making.
