Immigration white paper delayed

The UK government has postponed the publication of its white paper on post-Brexit immigration policy.

Speaking at a fringe event held on 2 October at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester, immigration minister Brandon Lewis said that the white paper would include a commitment that from Brexit day, in March 2019, freedom of movement for European Union citizens moving to Britain would end.

Most of the government’s policy, however, will not be revealed until the autumn of 2018, he told the meeting organised by the Institute of Government.
