Government agrees changes to spaceflight bill

The Department for Transport has announced that its spaceflight bill, published in February, is to be renamed the Space Industry Bill.

The changes were announced on 22 June and are in response to a House of Commons Science and Technology Committee inquiry, which had concluded that the bill had been rushed.

In particular, MPs flagged up its loose grasp of standard industry terminology, which had been highlighted by the British Interplanetary Society, an organisation that represents academics with commercial research interests in the field.
