Government creates business advisory group for Brexit

The UK government has set up a Brexit advisory group that will bring together leaders of companies and senior ministers, after months of criticism that it was ignoring the concerns of industry.

Business secretary Greg Clark announced the creation of the advisory group in the House of Commons on 27 June. He told MPs that he had met businesses, local authorities and workers around the UK, and investors around the world, since he was first appointed secretary of state shortly after the referendum on membership of the European Union.

“These will continue over the coming months, including my weekly meetings with the directors general of the five main business organisations,” Clark said. “The government is creating a new EU exit business advisory group to ensure that business is not only heard but is influential throughout the negotiations.”
