Hammond: UK should stick to customs union ‘for a while’

Britain should stick to the European Union Customs Union rules for a period of time after Brexit, the UK chancellor Philip Hammond has said.

Hammond delivered his long-awaited Mansion House speech on 20 June, after it was scheduled to take place on 15 June but was postponed following the Grenfell Tower fire in London on 14 June.

The chancellor identified four priorities for the UK in the Brexit negotiations.
