May to outline UK’s position on science

The UK government’s proposals on science in the Brexit negotiations will be set out in a paper to be released by the end of September.

The paper on science will be one of 12 addressing areas including data protection and the European Court of Justice, a spokeswoman from the Department for Exiting the European Union told Research Fortnight. The document follows numerous calls from UK-based researchers and universities to ensure that research features high in the Brexit negotiations.

Two papers, stating the UK government’s proposals on how to treat confidential information obtained from the EU before Brexit, and on how goods placed on supply chains in the EU single market before UK’s withdrawal can still be made available afterwards, are expected to be published on 21 August.
