UK-China antimicrobial resistance research receives £10m boost

The Department of Health has earmarked up to £10 million in official development assistance funding for joint research between the UK and China addressing antimicrobial resistance.

Administered through the innovation agency Innovate UK, the funding will facilitate equal partnerships between researchers based in the UK and China, focusing on an idea that one country would be unlikely to undertake without the expertise of the other.

The Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology will invest a further 60 million RMB (£7m) to support the Chinese partners in the research.
