The UK government has set up a task force of business leaders and academics to work with industry on accelerating the pace of investment in technologies that will power the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Over the next six months, the group will put together proposals on how to deliver the investment needed for the UK to meet its carbon-reduction targets through green finance, which includes investment in technologies, infrastructure and startups.
Announcing the task force on 18 September, Claire Perry, minister for climate change and industry, said transitioning to a low-carbon economy was a multi-billion pound investment opportunity and part of this government’s industrial strategy.
