Twenty-two proposals for collaborative projects between UK researchers and groups in Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico have been shortlisted for the £1 million Newton Prize.
A total of 140 projects, fellowships or other awards supported by the Newton Fund applied for the prize. There are four grants of up to £200,000 available, with an additional prize known as the chair’s award of £200,000 for a project with the potential for broader impact with other developing countries.
The funding is awarded to projects that demonstrate the best science or innovation while promoting the economic development and social welfare of Newton partner countries.
