Government doubles science fast stream for civil servants

Number of places on Science and Engineering Fast Stream has increased from 20 to 40

The government has increased the number of civil service positions it is offering through the Science and Engineering Fast Stream, which is aimed at applicants who hold a masters or PhD in science or engineering.

“We have a science and engineering fast stream to try and bring people in,” government chief scientific adviser Patrick Vallance said at an event in London on 23 January. “[It] is a way of bringing a cohort of scientists into government on a rotational basis—and these are high flyers.”
