Peers hear UK has ‘problems’ with its technician workforce

Technicians are “crucial” for applying R&D technologies and Catapults should offer more training, Lords told

Peers have been warned that the UK has “problems” with its technician workforce which could mean that British industry will not be able to make best use of new R&D technologies.

During a House of Lords Science and Technology Committee hearing on 25 October, Paul Lewis, professor of political economy at King’s College London, said that technicians are “crucial” for companies using R&D technologies.
