Who is Nusrat Ghani, the UK’s new science minister?

Birmingham City and Leeds alumnus brings experience in research charity sector and media to politics

Nusrat Ghani has been named as the new science minister after a month-long delay since Liz Truss took over as prime minster and started appointing new ministers.

Unlike her predecessor in the role, George Freeman, who was a life science minister in a previous government and was well known in the sector, Ghani, like another recent science minister, Amanda Solloway, is more likely to be unknown to many in the R&D sector.
