Sunak to chair National Science and Technology Council

Prime minister brings back top-level NSTC, but space and Covid-19 committees still absent

The recently revived National Science and Technology Council will once again be chaired by the prime minister, pushing science back up to the highest level of government after the committee was scrapped under former leader Liz Truss.

Prime minister Rishi Sunak will chair the NSTC, which provides cross-government coordination on R&D issues, according to an updated council membership list released by the government on 3 November.
